Happy first day of May!  Last week McCleaf’s Orchard had a few containers of strawberries.  But they sold out quickly.  McCleaf’s also has rhubarb and snap peas along with salad mix and many other delicious items.  Waltz Family Farm is back this week after their week off.  Two Oceans will be at this weekend and next  then will start coming every other week.  Ad Astra is back this week and will be at the market every week.  Practical Botanicals will also be at the market this week and will join us the first and third Saturday of each week.

Also, welcome back the Master Gardeners to the market.  They will be here the first of every month.  The University of Maryland Extension “Ask A Master Gardener” Plant Clinic is a free, walk-up information booth where trained Master Gardener volunteers answer home gardening questions and provide research-based advice on plants, insects, diseases, lawns, and sustainable practices throughout the growing season. Community members are invited to bring plant samples or photos for identification and diagnosis, and volunteers share recommendations and printed resources tailored to Maryland conditions, including guidance on native plants, pollinators, and Bay-friendly gardening.

From last weekend’s amazing number of customers we can tell that the Hollywood Farmers Market is all a buzz…

Speaking of, Honey Glow will have vegetable, flower, and herb seedlings, as well as native perennials. They will be stocked with HONEY, of course. Also will be bringing some of their candles and laser engraved items, but mostly focusing on seedlings and perennials right with Honey.
Plus Bee City USA will be at the market and will have native flower seed packets and educational materials to handout. Bee City representatives will be available to answer any questions the public may have regarding pollinators and pollinator friendly practices.

We’re cracking up over here…
Waltz, McCleaf’s, Silver Mapleyard Farm and Two Oceans all have eggs.  Silver Maple has such a great variety of turkey, duck, chicken eggs.  It’s no yoke….

All the puns are done for now.  We’ll see you tomorrow!  10am until 2pm

It’s hard to imagine that this Saturday, November 22nd is our final market for the 12th market season.  It’s crazy how quickly the year flew by.  Thank you to all who have continued to support the market and make it your place to hang out on a Saturday and supporting our vendors.

Are you thinking of gifts for the holiday season yet?  Did you know that Great Gifting Starts at the market?  Vendors like Hilary Katherine Beall Studio Artist, Moonlight Studio, Door by Door Wreaths, Artemiya, Honey Glow and Shmidt Spirits have perfect gifts for everyone.  Blue Berwyn has great centerpieces with their dried flowers, pumpkin designs and so much more.

Speaking of Shmidt Spirits- they have a special limited time release of a bourbon finished in a zinfandel barrel.  It sounds intriguing.  Waltz Family Farms has plenty of beef, pork, lamb and chicken in stock.  Plus, their cheese selection includes Gouda!
Our produce vendors have all the greens you’ll need for side dishes for Thanksgiving and the days after.  Make sure you stock up!
If you are free on Saturday, December 6th stop by Moonlight Studios for the “Holiday Hoopla” (see the attached flyer).  They are giving out special coupons for it at their table this weekend – if you bring the coupon to the event you get to pick a piece of pottery for free!
The event is free and open to the public; there will also be a vendor market and food for sale too. Best part- it’s indoors!

Maryland Market Money Bridge Benefit Guide
In response to the interruption of SNAP benefits during the ongoing federal government shutdown, the Maryland Department of Agriculture will implement a short-term emergency intervention through the Maryland Market Money Bridge Benefit program, effective November 1st. This temporary initiative will authorize participating MMM Food Access Points to issue an emergency benefit of up to $20 per household per market day* to SNAP customers who experience declined transactions, helping maintain food access for Maryland families while ensuring farmers continue to earn income through direct sales. *Some Maryland Market Money access points and county partners may offer additional support to supplement this emergency benefit, such as enhanced incentives or expanded local funding, depending on available resources This emergency response is intended to bridge the critical gap in food access while sustaining Maryland’s local food economy through direct farmer support. MMM will continue to match Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), including Summer SUN Bucks and Pandemic/Disaster EBT, transactions as available and operate all standard incentive programs for eligible nutrition benefits, including the Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) and the Women, Infant, and Children Fruit & Vegetable Benefit (WIC-CVV/B), during the federal government shutdown.
